as the sun travels across the sky..
a flower follows its blazing trail..
begging it with drooping petals..
stay a little longer, lest darkness prevail.
a lifetime spent, watching her little one grow
one fine day as he leaves to serve..
a tear in her eye and a prayer on her lips..
stay a little longer, a mother still hopes..
in the cell, a prisoner sits staring..
through iron bars, caged within...
a sparrow eating morsels from last nights dinner..
stay a little longer, life begs even after sin.
after a night of lying to close to her heart
as the sunlight steals in through the window
lighting up the face that infused life into her..
stay a little longer, its not yet time to go.
