the "real" india..

1. river rafting in India??? xtreme sports!!! wooohoooo!!!
yea sure.. every monsoons when the mithi river in mumbai floods.. certain entrepreneurs came up with this novel idea of commercially exploiting this situation and provide premium river rafting services with various rapids filled with dangerous obstacles like stranded BEST buses and trucks...not to mention the submerged cars and 2 wheelers flowing with the current.

2. child marriage!!!! yipppeeeeee!!!!
the girl child is obvio still considered a curse. so the moment one is born, the parents start hunting for a suitable groom. and most of the old, geriatric landlords (or zamindaars as we still call them) nobly step up to the occasion, and take upon themselves the burden of marrying these useless women. But god help those parents who cant get rid of their girl child before she turns five years old!!!! such women will remain unmarried for the rest of their lives. Last year Mumbai itself won the coveted best city award for least number of unmarried girl children above 5 yrs old.

3.the land of snake charmers!!!! (main tera dushman.. dushman tu mera.. main nagin tu sapera!!!!!!)
well.. every indian family must send their eldest born male child to the prestigious govt sponsored SNAKE CHARMING FOR DUMMIES 101 program.
its a rigorous course, usually takes between 4-8 yrs with over 10lakh applicants from all over india. but very few actually make it to the pantheons of snake charming gods.

4.poor infrasturcture....?? we're poor anyways!!!!
forget railway stations, even our international airports are crowded with every possible animal found in the indian sub continent. i find myself jostling for space sometimes with our holy mother..the cow.. or sometimes with our holy saviour.. the monkey...many are the times the flight to san francisco was delayed.. beacause the runway was closed as a cow was giving birth to a "bachda" right in the middle of the runway.

5.digital tv??? whats that???
american idol..?? i didnt know americans were also influenced by our religion and had started worshipping idols/gods.. i must remember to send my cousin in the US a moorthi of shankar bhagwan.. hes my favorite god.hes all powerful!!!
jai ho!!!!

i can go on n on.. but my sense of humour is already drier than the deserts of the kalahari..
i hope the above solves any doubt most NRI indians have.. about the current state of india..after all they still love to blive we're somewhere in the 1700s.
