the proverbial nice guy...

Tday the subject of my blog is an oft quoted.. but seriously flawed adage.
"Nice guys always finish last".

ok.. before i delve any deeper.. lets define "nice"
ok.. the dictionary will tell u..
good,cordial,gracious,pleasant and yes.. even wanton..(thank you GRE!!)..

in the context of the adage quoted above.. its the former meanings.. n NOT the last one.

why do i say the adage is flawed..??
for starters.. its highly pessimistic.. i mean.. if ure nice.. u will finish last..theres no other way of interpreting it.. the bad ppl of the world will invariably use u n get ahead of u..
if tat be the case.. why is this used to console the "nice guys"..? isnt it bad enough tat the "nice" guy has just taken a beating from a "bad" guy..wat pleasure does it give the general public to rub it in.. n remind the "nice" guy.. tat he WILL finish LAST.. no matter wat.. its a forlorn case..!!??

secondly.. i seriously doubt the accuracy of the statement... do "nice" guys even finish..??
i personally havent seen any living proof of the above..so ping me in case u kno of any "nice" guy who indeed finished.

which brings me to , why then are ppl "nice"..?? if they kno tat they will finish last.. or mebbe never finish..

nopes.. i cant throw any light on the subject.. am myself tryin to figure it out..
some day i hope to find the answer..
