Did i leave a mark?

Funny how death is never given the importance it deserves, till it comes a knocking on your door.
no.. i havent the "good" fortune yet.. but just wondering.. if tom i die..
who are the people who wud actually miss me? who wud even notice...
did i do somethin tat left a mark in some1's life..?
will an action/gesture remind some1 somewhere.. of me..
The answer.. as much as i tried to glorify my present existence.. was a big NO. NOTHING.. NONE.
and the funny part is.. the realisation didnt even manage to convince me to do anything about it!
why?
im human, afflicted by the common human weakness to be "loved" and "remembered" by all..
n yet.. the very thought of doing something JUST to get that attention i crave for.. seems .. well.. beneath my dignity.
Placing myself on a pedestal to avoid doing anything humanitarian.. hehe.. bad BUT novel excuse.
The cliched sights of a poor orphaned child on the street begging, a destitute, a physically handicapped man crawling on whichever limb he can use.. to reach upto me..
all the above.. moving..makes me feel sad. make a resolve to do something..
what? spend a minute thinking abt their predicament. tats all.. life goes on.
joinin an NGO, donating some time and money for them.. ALL very fashionable.. but ITS NOT ENOUGH.. ITS NEVER ENOUGH..!!!!
i wonder if things like love.....humaneness.. r just the luxuries of the rich....
i seem to be digressing from wat i set out to write.. but then again.. what is it tat i set out to write?

" crave attention.. not ur pity..
too much to ask..?
my crime.. my being a social animal.
just tat ray of sunshine.. for me to bask"

do you earnestly crave for attention?..is that admission not below dignity also? :)

Love is not the luxury or the rich..but of ppl who want it..its measured by its fullness and not by its reciprocity!

"fullness of luv".. blah blah? sounds good on paper.. practically..? reciprocity is a must.. dare u to say no.

Everyone gives only when they're almost sure they'll get it back. Even the so called mahaan atmas. Mahatma Gandhi became a "Mahatma" only after he became the president of the congress (and very very popular). It was one of the slickest political makeovers in history.

Those who give without expecting anything in return are never heard of. It is because of this desire to not want anything in return. They do their 'work' and push off without waiting for the press, other people and fawning cliches.

This post of yours is extremely thought provoking. And that's more than I've said to any other blogger, ass, so please do let it go to your head.

Shruti, as for your comment, everything does lead you somewhere. Each and every moment changes you, if infinitesimally. Things may be good the way they are, but they're changing too.

Upasna, "Love is not the luxury or the rich..but of ppl who want it." Are you a closet marxist now?

And dude, as for the marks you leave ... Well, even those marks disappear or change somehow. So how does it matter if you leave a mark or not? As long as you do what you think is right, you're leaving a mark on yourself and that's all that matters - your self-opinion. After all, a very wise man once said, "The Universe is change, life is self-opinion."
